God Bless the Writers

GOD BLESS WRITERS
God bless writers,
even the shitty ones.
God bless technical writers, poets,
bloggers who write about their pregnancies.
God bless songwriters. Every day.
God bless nature writers, historical and hysterical writers.
God bless erotic writers.
God bless erotic writers again and again and again.
God bless sign writers who come up with signs like:
PLEASE DON’T WALK THROUGH THE WILDFLOWERS.
I understand the sentiment, but it’s like saying:
PLEASE DON’T ENJOY YOURSELF
or:
PLEASE DON’T TOUCH THE BEAUTY
or:
PLEASE DON’T HAVE THAT ORGASM.
God bless sign writers who don’t see spelling errors.
God bless writers who talk more about agents than they do craft.
God bless writers who publish books that no one reads.
God bless every writer who ever self published a chapbook.
God bless poets who teach English Comp class to 19 year olds and
God bless the writer who penned the sign:
NO U TURN.
Brilliant.
God bless speech, copy, ad, obituary,
science, travel, food, sports, catalogue,
news, screen, novel, and recipe writers.
God bless each and every lonely soul that ever wrote a personal ad.
God bless letter writers. They should have a special nook in heaven.
God bless the Bible-writers.
And the Bible re-writers. And the Bible re-re-writers.
God bless them because they think they’re right.
So God bless those wrong thinking Bible writers, re-writers
and re-re-writers who think they’re right.
God bless writers who remember what shouldn’t be forgotten,
and who lie to tell the truth.
God bless writers who go to prison or have fingers cleaved off,
who lose their lives.
God bless writers that bus tables, change diapers, enter data,
talk on the phone all day then write all night, or visa versa.
God bless writers that walk through wildflowers,
enjoy beauty
and have orgasms.
One after the other.
