About the Area
The Pacific Northwest is Plein Air Painter Paradise!
The Mt. Hood and Hood River areas are unique and very attractive to a Plein Air painter. In a small area, there is a very diverse range of climate zones to paint. Plus, here in Hood River, we have a small-town atmosphere, alongside the magnificant Columbia River.
From Hood River, you can get to Mt. Hood in 45 mins, to Mt. Adams in an hour, and to the desert and high desert in 20 minutes. The "transitional zone" is 10 minutes away, and the Deschutes River is 45 minutes east. Then there is the Coast, which is only 2.5 hrs west of Hood River.
