New Year, New Artists, New Works
January 9 through February 1
Watercolor by Jan Muir
New Works in a Variety of Media
The first show of the new year will open on January 9th and run through February 1st.
New Year, New Artists, New Works will feature several of the artists who have been welcomed in to the Columbia Art Gallery “family” within the last year.
SPECIAL JANUARY HOURS
Please note that the galley will be closed for inventory December 29 through January 6.
Artists are Picked by a Jury
Artists who wish to display their work regularly in the Gallery must submit work to be evaluated by the Gallery’s jury committee. The jury committee consists of several local professionally trained artists. Numerous artists submit work every year, but as the Gallery has limited display space available and currently features over 100 Gallery artists, only a fraction of those artist submitting work are accepted each year.
A Variety of Media
Bill Sturman, show curator said, “The artists included in this show are representative of the wide variety of media available at the galley, so we think the show will be of interest to nearly everyone. All of these artists have already displayed some of their work in the Gallery this past year, but the works in this show will be almost entirely new.”
They will include delicately crafted silver and beaded jewelry, intricate wood turnings and fabric wall hangings, striking pen and ink drawings, dramatic black and white photographs, beautiful watercolor scenes from nature, and sleek soapstone, granite and wood sculptures.
Show Artists
Show artists and the media they will be including in the show are as follows:
- Glenn Bargabus – wood turnings
- Shawn Daughton – fabricated silver jewelry
- Judi Kane – fabric wall hangings and beaded jewelry
- Kim Leahy - beaded jewelry
- Jason Leslie – pen and ink
