Drawing for Drawing's Sake
January 6 - 31
Spend Time Enjoying the Arts this Winter

Reception on 2nd Friday
Please join us for the opening of Drawing for Drawings Sake, on January 8th, the SECOND Friday of the month, from 6-8pm.
What better way to chase the winter doldrums than with a dose of the arts and by coming to the opening night!
The show runs January 6—31, 2010.
Drawing as an Art Form
Show curator Sally Reichmuth says, “Drawing is understood as the basis of all pictorial representation and has been described as the gateway to successful painting, but is not often appreciated as an art form in itself. This show will be a celebration of drawing for drawing’s sake.”
Types of Work Included
The drawings to be included are sure to educate and delight.
Included will be the calligraphic line by an artist trained in Chinese brushwork, the representational work by an artist trained in Italy in “sight-sizing” as well as other Old World techniques, and the gifted work of a commercial artist whose drawings are commissioned for Hollywood.
Media will include pen and ink, graphite and charcoal with a wide variety of subject matter including figure drawing, portraiture, landscape and still life.
Participating Artists
You will see the draughtsmanship underlying the work
of a few of our favorite local painters and the work of several artists new
to the Gallery. Featured Artists are:
- Laurie Balmuth
- Ardiis deFreece
- Arlene Larison
- Angela Lynn
- Andrew Pate
- Joel Pierson
- Todd Smith
- Susan Sutherland
