Artist Talk with Ardis DeFreece

Artist Talk with Ardis DeFreece

June 23, 5:30pm
CCA Lobby
Free to the Community

Artist Ardis DeFreece will talk about her exploration of the Columbia River to investigate environmental conditions and build a body of research. The resulting work took shape both in visual and written forms through direct observations at several sites along the river. This exploration inspired an awakening in her art-making practice and in her ideas about Nature and the human place in it.

Of her self as an artist, Ardis says, “I am a representational painter and draftswoman born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, currently living in the Columbia River Gorge. Since childhood I have been making art and I come from a long line of artists. I have a BA in Art and I am currently an MFA candidate. I have studied art in the US and Europe. Every year I continue to learn more about art through my own work, other artists, and teaching. Teaching art is an important part of my life and I am always inspired by my students.” Learn more and find her work here.
