Description of the play:  This spellbinding, romantic journey begins with a simple encounter between a man and a woman. But what happens next defies the boundaries of the world we think we know—delving into the infinite possibilities of their relationship and raising questions about the difference between choice and destiny.

Marianne, a physicist, and Roland, a beekeeper, meet at a party. They hit it off, and go for a drink. Or perhaps they don’t. They go home together, or maybe they go their separate ways. Perhaps Marianne is engaged to someone else, perhaps Roland is. Maybe she breaks his heart, maybe he breaks hers. Perhaps they come together and their love story can finally take root and grow, or perhaps it will be tragically cut short. Constellations explores how even the smallest change in our lives can dramatically alter the course we take. It is a spellbinding exploration of love, science, quantum theory, and infinite possibility for heartbreak or for hope.

Actors:

Dawn Rankin is married to the handsome fella (with whom she is sharing the stage) for 23 blissful years. They have one daughter (their acting coach), Abby, a senior at HRVHS. When Dawn isn’t working for Providence Home Health Physical Therapy, she can be found hiking or trail “running” with her favorite dog Vixen or playing the flute in CGOA’s Sinfonietta. You may have seen Dawn on stage in Pirates of Penzance, A Christmas Carol and Mamma Mia! Thanks for supporting the arts and enjoy the show!

Matt Rankin has lived in Hood River since 2003 with his lovely wife, Dawn, and awesome daughter, Abby. Matt pays the bills as an Operations & Finance Manager but prefers to hang out with friends & family, golf, fish, hike with the dog, perform or volunteer. You may have seen him prior in such local shows as It’s A Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, Death of a Salesman, Cemetery Tales and A Christmas Carol. He would like to thank everyone for coming out to support our very special local theater community.

Director:

Tom Burns has appeared in The Fantasticks, West Side Story, Leading Ladies, Death of a Salesman, Chicago, Calendar Girls, Much Ado About Nothing, Macbeth, Glengarry Glen Ross, and Of Mice and Men. Tom has directed many productions including The Turn of the Screw, You Cant Take it With You, Waiting for Godot, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, In the Next Room, ART, The Clean House, Circle Mirror Transformation, and Private Eyes.

Assistant Director:

Rosemary Sheppardson is a graduate of the University of Oregon, where she began her love of theatre. Rosemary has an avid interest in knitting, dancing and costuming. She has performed in several local plays including Mid Summer Night’s Dream, Jesus Christ Superstar, A Christmas Carol, Romeo and Juliet, Maltese Falcon/Casablanca radio show, Spamalot, Speed the Play and Tony and Tina’s Wedding. She just finished As You Like It for PACT theatre. This is her debut as an Assistant Director.
