The Blind Princess

The Blind Princess

May 18-26, 2018
Directed by Sullivan Mackintosh
Written by Bill Weiler

This original production was first performed in February 2008, and is presented to the Gorge once again by Plays for Non-Profits and CCA Children’s Theatre.

The Blind Princess is a fairytale of enchantment and music. Blinded in a horseback riding accident during a battle that killed her brother, our young Princess despairs as a string of magicians and doctors try to cure her of her blindness.  Her mother, the Empress, has offered riches to anyone who succeeds, but the Scorpion, the emperor of a rival neighboring kingdom, offers what appears to be unity by way of marriage to his son, Prince Vulture. However, the Empress’ devoted young chamberlain is also in love with the Princess! The Princess wonders if she is destined for love, but her seeing-eye pot-bellied pig keeps reality in check, adding humor to this touching tale.

Along the way, we follow the theft of the country’s greatest treasure, the Royal Sparrow’s mate, in hopes that the birds reunite in time to save the kingdom. Moreover, will the Princess ever get the answers she is looking for? Audience members can expect laughs, love, cheerily villainous characters, sing-a-longs, and more!

The production is recommended for ages 4 and up. If you anticipate that you may need to take your child out during the performance, we recommend that you choose a seat close to the lobby doors to show respect for other Theatre patrons.

Tickets: $20 for adults, $15 for students/seniors/military, $10 for children under 10 years, and $10 for groups of 10 or more.
