Artist: Lawrence Hudetz

(1937 – 2016)

A native born Chicagoan, moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1963. He was both artist and scientist. In 1963 he was hired by Tektronix as a Quality Engineer where he worked with oscilloscopes. In 1974, he changed professions to devote full time to photography emphasizing science and art in synergy. In 1974, he received the first Purchase Award given in photography by the Portland Art Museum. His work received honors in a 1988 exhibition and publication “Master Photographs”, by the International Center of Photography in New York. His work is featured in the book, “Fractals: The Patterns of Chaos” by John Briggs. Hudetz’s architectural photography appears in “Spiritual Space: The Religious Architecture” of Pietro Belluschi. His work is included in private and public collections such as those at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Oregon Capitol Collection. Recent exhibitions: The Black and White Spider Awards, London, 2013 The Portland Art Museum Dusk Through Dawn Photography Exhibit, 2014. Lawrence George Hudetz was born Sept. 17, 1937 in Chicago, Ill.
