Columbia Center for the Arts is excited to present Best of Gorge, a juried group show of regional work made by gorge artists. Opening on Friday Sept 4, the gallery will be open from 6-8pm.
Best of Gorge Juried by Kristin O’Neill and Yvonne Pepin-Wakefield, this premier show celebrates and rewards the best artwork produced by mid-Columbia Gorge artists. The past few months have been a time of unknown outcomes and movement toward change. With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, stay at home orders, and closures – we have all been living in a time of uncertainty. The Black Lives Matter movement has cracked open the dialogue around race and injustice in America, and continues to grow momentum. Work in this show is in response to, or influenced by these ongoing events.
Whereas previous Best of Gorge exhibitions have included a monetary award for participants, for this one show we wanted to support those fighting for our human rights by donating proceeds to the American Civil Liberties Union. Awards will still be given, and artists honored. A live feed announcing award winners will be featured on our website on Sept 4 at 6 pm.
All of the 2020 Gallery Exhibits are generously sponsored by Cathedral Ridge Winery.
