SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT by Bre Gregg

Something to Talk About is a joyful tribute to Bonnie Raitt, one of my greatest musical influences. This is a truly outstanding show that you should not miss. It involves a stage full of some of the best musicians Oregon has to offer, many who are taking breaks from their own projects to form an all-star band to pay tribute to somebody who has deeply inspired each one of us.

Bonnie Raitt is an incredible musician and performer to be sure, but one her biggest contributions is proving to women they had every right to share the stage with their male counterparts. This show is packed with female (and male!) bad-assery with five powerful women out front: Lisa Mann (blues queen), Anne Weiss (bluesy-folk darling), Shelly Rudolph (jazz-soul goddess), Ara Lee (sweet gospel butter), and myself (blues + swampy soul). We take turns leading songs and backing each other with harmony and musical collaboration throughout the show.

Something to Talk About: A Bonnie Raitt Tribute will be performed Saturday, November 14 at the Columbia Art Center.

We are doing five shows with our final performance at the Columbia Center for the Arts on Saturday, November 14th. CCA is one of my favorite venues anywhere…it is so wonderfully intimate that you feel like you are doing a concert in your front room for a group of dear friends. Being a Montana girl at heart, Hood River always feels like a homecoming filled with the kind of outdoorsy and cultured folk I fell in love with in Bozeman. I am really looking forward to this.

I have a two-year-old daughter and a six-month-old son and sometimes I wonder how I find the energy to continue putting on shows. And then I’m on stage singing with Lisa Mann, Shelly Rudolph, Anne Weiss and Ara Lee and I am in awe of them. Then over my right shoulder Mark Bowden brings a monster guitar solo, on my left Rich Landar is tearing it up on the keyboard and Dan Stueber is bringing his signature soulful, articulate groove that tie it all together, and I thank my lucky stars I get to do something that brings me so much joy.

This show is musical magic and I promise you will feel it too. Tickets available online, at the Art Center Gallery, and at Waucoma Bookstore.

I hope to see you on the 14th!
Hugs, Bre Gregg
