Our camps are simultaneously offered in Hood River and The Dalles, be sure to choose the location that is best for you.
Hood River camps run from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, The Dalles Art Center camps run from 9:00 am- 4:30 pm.

Take the plunge into art camps with this first week of our summer camp series. Led by a crew of artists in theater, drumming, drawing, painting and movement arts, we will introduce 8-10 year-olds to all kinds of new and creative experiences. A playful introduction to theater, music, dance and movement creates imaginative, collaborative, lively and engaging group fun. And our Painting and drawing offerings supports students in creating individual works of art. Artapalooza

Empieza con esta primera semana de nuestra serie de campamentos de verano. Dirigidos por un equipo de artistas de teatro, percusión, dibujo, pintura y artes del movimiento, presentaremos todo tipo de experiencias nuevas y creativas. A través de una introducción al teatro, la música, la danza y el movimiento los estudiantes crean una experiencia grupal imaginativa, colaborativa, animada y atractiva. Y nuestras actividades de pintura y dibujo ayudan a los estudiantes a crear obras de arte individuales. ¡Este campamento demuestra que la magia vive en la experiencia de arte en grupo y apoya a los estudiantes mientras encuentran su propias fuerzas de artista.

Rhythm and Blues, Drums and Paintings

July 12th – 16th
Join artists Molly Holmlund and Tim Snyder for a week of drumming, drawing, watercolor and music. In this five day camp learners will draw and experiment with watercolor exploring color through rhythms to make for a fun and lively experience. Students will use drumsticks, bucket drums, pencils, watercolor and other multimedia. An introduction to visual thinking strategies helps campers respond to artworks by professional artists and encourages imagination and sense of wonder. This creative art-lovers camp will bring learners home ready to dance into dreamland.

Stitch and Measure, Trash to Treasure

July 19th – 23rd
Join mixed-media artist and educator Jess Graff and Art Teacher Lise Larsen for a 5 day art camp of creativity and connection. Participants will create objects out of recycled objects, learn sewing skills, use hand tools and explore materials such as fabric, plastic, cardboards, metal, fibers, and other reusable items; all with ample help from adults. Participants will play and experiment with dozens of new materials to build their own wearable treasures, as well as collaborate to create a group artwork for the art center. With plenty of math and science for good measure, this camp will bring out the inner fashion designer, builder, and artist.

Únase al artista multimedia internacional Marwan Nahle y al artista y educador de multimedia Jess Graff para un campamento de arte de 5 días de creatividad y conexión. Los participantes crearán un mural con objetos reciclados, aprenderán habilidades de costura, usarán herramientas manuales y explorarán materiales como tela, plástico, cartón, metal, fibras y otros artículos reutilizables; todo con amplia ayuda de los adultos. Los participantes jugarán y experimentaran con docenas de nuevos materiales para construir sus propios tesoros portátiles, además de colaborar para crear un mural grupal para el centro de arte. Con un montón de matemáticas y ciencias en buena medida, este campamento fomentará al diseñador de moda, constructor y artista interior.

Join artists Rod Stuart, Peggy Wooten and Tim Snyder for a week of woodworking, mosaic tiling, tesselation making, bucket drumming and all around fun! Campers will build wooden creatures to tile and paint, learn about mosaics and the art of tiling. Make music and design their instrument. This camp will set kids up to be great helpers with your next remodel!

Aug 2nd – 6th
Join artists Stephanie Delgado, Erin Erickson and Amy Gray for a week of multi-media and design projects. In this five day camp learners will stitch, knot, sew, dye and design using fibers, thread, yarn and a plethora of fabrics. We’ll augment and embroider on photographs, use embroidery hoops, child safe needles, classroom looms and more. For kids that are interested in fashion, design and handicrafts this camp will be a fantastic introduction to new tools and techniques.

Inspired by Maurice Sendak’s classic, Where the Wild Things Are, we’ll explore acting, designing, dramatic writing and performing while we bring our own Wild Thing characters to life!
