Warren Heard Solo Exhibition – “Not For The Faint of HeART”

On View: September 2nd – October 2nd, 2022
Closing Party: October 1st – 4PM – 9PM

Columbia Center of the Arts is pleased to present new work from fine artist Warren Heard, September 2 – October 2, 2022 with a public reception for the artist Friday, September 2, from 6:00 to 9:00PM. The solo exhibition entitled Not For The Faint of HeART is a presentation of the artist’s past ten years of work completed at his studio based in Hood River, OR.

Fine artist Warren Heard is best known for his post-modern style of figurative oil works, and was recently selected as an honored recipient of the 2022 Oregon Arts Commission Fine Arts Career Enhancement Grant. His thought provoking, large-scale works of art are packed with emotion-drawing subject matter and take the viewer on a journey into the inner workings of the human psyche. The show’s title, “Not For The Faint of HeART” truly sets the tone for an evening full of twists and turns into the depths of art history and back with a presentation of museum quality works suited for the finest of enthusiasts, connoisseurs, and collectors alike.

This show will mark Heard’s first solo exhibition in the state of Oregon since arriving in the Gorge with his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren in 2016. In this exhibition he will present the past ten years of his life behind the canvas. On display will be over 30 large scale original oil on canvas works, a series of gouache, ink and oil on paper, a unique series of oil on crashed car hoods and a selection of limited edition prints. A true culmination of his life’s work.

About the Artist
Heard (b.1950, Long Beach, CA) was taught to paint before the age of ten under the tutelage of a close family friend and prominent English artist, Gordon Ellis (1920-1978) and has continued to hone in his skills and style for the past sixty plus years since. He studied fine arts at the Kansas City Art Institute (1969) and later at the Arts Center College of Design in Los Angeles racking up awards and acclaim along the way.

Heard worked as a creative director and cartoonist through the 1970s and into the early 80’s for the Hollywood Free Press. He eventually fell into a career in the culinary arts where he worked as executive chef of some of the finest restaurants in Southern California for over 30 years. He retired in 2001 and has been spending 10-12 hours per day behind the easel ever since.

During the show, the gallery is Open Wednesday – Sunday from 11am – 5PM
