32 Artists ... Juried Show

Please join us this September, when 32 artists will be showcased in the 2009 Pacific Northwest Plein Air Show at the Columbia Art Gallery.  This is the 5th year of this popular event. Every year the competition grows as artists vie to be included.

Award-winning plein air painter and instructor, Ned Mueller from Renton, WA, will be the juror this year, and will select 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. There will also be an opportunity for the public to cast a vote for their favorite painting in the People's Choice Award.

A Painter's Paradise

The Pacific Northwest, and in particular, the Columbia River Gorge area, is Plein Air Painter Paradise. It's no surprise that each year at this time, artists gather here to take in the stunning beauty of its black basalt cliffs, ribbon-like waterfalls, and lush fir forests.

Opening & Artist Reception

Please join us for the artist's recepton and show opening on Friday, Sept. 4 from 6-8pm.

The town of Hood River itself is nestled along the Columbia River, and sits between the two snow capped volcanoes Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams ... making it not only an ideal, but also inspirational, host town for guest artists.

Notably, in November 1986, Congress recognized the unique beauty of the Gorge when it made it the nation's first National Scenic Area.

More Collectors Come Each Year

Show Coordinator, Cathleen Rehfeld, has been organizing this event in Hood River since its inception 5 years ago. "Every year more artists apply and more collectors come to buy. We are fortunate that Hood River offers such a good central location for artists to congregate and also provide quick access to the variety of climate zones within a 30-mile radius."
