Columbia Arts presents Love in 4/4 Time
Columbia Center for the Arts proudly kicks off its 20th anniversary season with a special production of Love in 4/4 Time, an original play by longtime local resident, author, actor, director, and supporter of the arts, Gary Young. The production is directed by another familiar face in the Gorge arts community, John Bryan, himself a dedicated actor, director, and arts advocate.
You might recognize the names Bob, Carol, Ted, and Alice—two of the most famous couples of the 1970s. While the names are the same, the story in Love in 4/4 Time is entirely new. This heartfelt play follows two couples as they navigate the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, forging ahead into life’s uncertain future with humor, honesty, and resilience. The production is appropriate for all ages and includes a post-performance discussion following the first Sunday matinee.
Love in 4/4 Time was originally developed with support from the Salvador Fund of the Gorge Community Foundation and debuted as a dramatic reading by Adult Center Theater during Older Americans Month. Expanded and refined by Gary Young, this special full-stage production will be presented at Columbia Arts for just four performances.
Join us in celebrating life in all its stages, the remarkable 20-year journey of Columbia Center for the Arts, and the contributions of both playwright and director to our local arts community.
