If you’ve visited the Gallery this month, you’ve undoubtedly been welcomed by the breathtaking, colorful solo Exhibition of artist Christine Knowles, titled Letting Go of Reality. Come meet the artist and hear her discuss her original works at this informal artist talk on Thursday, August 20 at 5pm.

Of her discussion and artwork, Christine says, “In the beginning, making art is learning about technique, about learning rules, set forth first by ancient Greeks, who understood  the science of perspective and the golden mean of composition.   Creating depth, using values, color harmony; its a process that will go on for the rest of my life.

My big leap is to move beyond technique and rules to rely on intuition and pure emotion. It’s about art as play, not knowing how or whether it will turn out as long as there is joy in the process.

I’m a workshop junkie, always looking for masters to help me get the confidence to create by letting go.  My art journey is about internalizing the rules and relying on intuition.  My current focus is color and texture: texture is for depth and looseness, while color is all about emotional expression.

I’ve been painting for almost 20 years and I love to talk with others about making art.”
